Asbestos Lawsuit Names Companies

Charleston â?? A Melbourne (FL) couple has filed a lawsuit against 39 corporations that are allegedly liable for a mesothelioma diagnosis. The lawsuit was filed by Barbara Amick and her husband Eldon Amick in Kanawha Circuit Court on April 20. The suit says Barbara Amick was diagnosed with mesothelioma on December 13, 2011. The plaintiffs say the defendant companies are responsible for the mesothelioma diagnosis as they exposed Barbara Amick to asbestos which is why she developed the malignant disease. Barbara Amick was employed in sales and accounts departments from 1952 to 1977, the complaint says. Barbara Amick says she was also exposed to the cancer-causing material during renovations at her husbandâ??s Vienna home between 1950 and 1970. The plaintiffs are asking for punitive and compensatory damages.
